It now stands in the middle of Place Lacaze-Duthiers, or Place de l'Eglise, a stone's throw from the biological station, founded in 1872 by the biologist.

A scan from a bust

The decision to recall this past was taken in 2015, by the city council. A call for tenders was launched, Patrice Le Guen, sculptor at Santec was chosen. The latter surrounded himself with specialists to create the work of art that is visible today.

Daniel Hyrien, works assistant, summarizes its production. "A scan was made from a bust of Henri de Lacaze-Duthiers, by the company E-mage-In-3D, of Camaret-sur-Mer. A 50 cm resin bust was printed. The sculptress Mara Dominioni of Chateaugiron made an rubber mold, for a final realization in bronze by the Rossini art foundry, in Bobigny. »

Patrice Le Guen took care of the missing granite pieces, with the support of the Kerguiduff marble works in Taulé. "This is a block of Rose de la Clarité, from the Gad-Bâtiment Granits quarry, in Ploumanac'h.
